It's Been A While....

I know I haven't blogged in a while, but we just haven't done anything lately that seemed deserving of it's own blog.  But, there are a few things that are new and exciting (at least to us) these days.

1.  We now have light from around 6:30 in the morning, to a little after 9:00 at night.  And I love it.  I can't decide what I like better about spring- the warmer weather or increasing light.  It's not all that much warmer yet, in the 40's, but it's enough to melt some snow.  Only problem is that there is SOOOO much leftover snow to melt I'm afraid it will take all of April to get rid of it all.

2.  We started our pre-garden garden.  Our landlords are letting us use some of their garden space this spring/summer, but since we are in Alaska, you have to give your garden a headstart indoors.  We here that they can go outside around Memorial weekend.  Almost everything is still alive, so we are feeling pretty sucessful.

3.  Derek's co-workers threw us a baby shower and we got some really nice and cute gifts!  We're going to have one well dressed baby! 

4.  I'm over 33 weeks!  This whole time we've been shooting for 34 weeks, so we're pretty excited.  Everything has been going really well and we're awfully close now and I've got the belly to prove it! 

A View From My Couch

The other day, while waiting for Derek to come home from work and watching season 2 of Project Runway, I heard a knock on my window.  Thinking it was either Derek home early or the upstairs neighbors, I sat up and looked out my window.  And this is who it was!! 

He hung around a little while.  Long enough for me to Skype my family and prove that moose really do show up everywhere here.  I think they got a kick out of it!  It didn't stay long enough for Derek to see him, but he said he's glad he didn't have to fight his way to the front door.



There you go, who would've thought I could see such action from my couch!

In need of your favorites....

As most of you may already know by now, I've officially been given oodles of time.  It's only day 2 of an at least 6-week stint of bed rest, and I'm already bored!  So, seeing as most of my friends and family aren't locally available to come over and chit chat, I'm calling on all of you to send me your top 5 favorite books and movies (maybe entertaining websites?) or even easy meal ideas to explain to someone not inclined to cooking!.  I'm getting quite proficient at putting things on hold at the library, and I have a feeling Derek will get pretty good and picking them up for me!  Feel free to send any other ideas of fun things you can do without venturing further then from a bed to a couch!

I don't know if it is because I'm pregnant.  I don't know if it's because as a child we were only allowed "sweet" cereal on Sunday mornings.  Maybe it's just the bright colors and crunch.  But whatever it is, I cannot get enough of these lately.  And I feel like a 6 year old.  Derek will have oatmeal, or cream of wheat, or if he's feeling a little crazy, he'll bust out the granola.  And I have Captain Crunch Berries!
